Hello I am new to this site. I am 31 and married and have been TCC since August 2012. 3 failed iui. I have not been responding to injectable horomones. I am now starting metformin and on a strict diet and exercise. It's been a tough road. I am going to try IVF however I need to respond to the medications! All the shots have been intramuscular hoping that would help but no such luck. Need some support feeling pretty down. Thanks all!
Let's try this again....
BFP @ 14 dpo
Wow! I still can't believe its my turn :).
My BFP came after an IUI with very low post-wash sperm count of 2.4 mill (morphology and motility normal) while awaiting first round of IVF. AND I only have one fallopian tube due to a previous ectopic! I thought I was definitely out because my RE told me my chances were very low this round. Also, my 2ww symptoms were virtually identical to pre af symptoms.
So there is hope, ladies!....
1-5 dpo - bloating, abdominal twinges
6-9 dpo - above plus tired, deep sleep w/ wild dreams, full/non-tender bbs
10dpo - above plus frequent urination, a lot of creamy CM, sore throat
11-12 dpo - above but VERY full/non-tender bbs and moody
13 dpo - above plus single episode of mild nausea
14 dpo - BFP!
14 dpo beta #1 - 202
16 dpo beta #2 - 485!
Praying for a sticky little one :)
Bfp!!!
So excited to make this entry. Reading these blogs has definitely helped me get through the 2ww! I did have to do injectables/ovidrel/iui and I am so excited I finally have my bfp!
Dpo symptoms I noticed:
5 dpo: gassy! Especially after eating, and it didn't matter what!
10 dpo: starting getting slight stomach aches after eating again didn't matter what
10 dpo: thought for sure I was getting af had cramps exactly like I do before af starts mild-mod but I could feel them in my upper thighs which is kind of a tell for me. ( so sad thinking af would be here soon )
11dpo and on going to the bathroom more often (nervous every time!!)
12 dpo a few mild cramps but they feel different, stomach aches again. Kind of feels like burning stomach
13 dpo took a home test.. Positive!!
Didn't want to get to excited because of the meds
14 dpo blood hcg test, came back in the 400s which they told me is really good for my first pregnancy!
Hope this helps good luck!! Baby dust to you all
Bfp 14dpo imolantation bleeding, clomid/iui
I'm so excited to finally write my bfp story!!! we tried for a little over a year. After 7 months I went to a fertility clinic, they found I had low progesterone, and a slightly sluggish thyroid. I tried with herbs, fertilitea, fertil aid, had cycles with no coffee or drinking - nothing... After over a year then started trying clomid with an injectable and iui - our second IUI round finally worked!!! I gave up nothing during that 2ww and had quit acupuncture haha. If this hadn't worked I was prepared to have laparoscopy surgery to see if I had stage 1/2 endometriosis.
This cycle definitely tricked me because I spot EVERY SINGLE MONTH since coming off birth control, and it's always different - sometimes just brown spotting on 10dpo, other months red blood at 9dpo...and I learned to always associate it my period coming. Here's my symptoms...
Cd 13: iui
1-10 dpo no symptoms that stand out
11dpo: felt dizzy, like i had a sinus headache all day so I stayed home from work and laid around all day... But still no spotting! But I've spotted later before
12dpo: felt normal aside from a little cramping. Was getting hopeful since my temp went up a little bit...later that night I got a little bit of light pink spotting and I was pretty upset...went to see a movie, came home and I had bright red blood, it was fairly heavy, enough to keep dripping in the toilet (sorry if tmi). So i figured my period came early - was so sad.
13dpo: brown spotting, which has also been normal for me after red bleeding in the past, and my temp dropped to just above my coverline which was right on schedule. Went to a baby shower which was really hard!!!
That night I started feeling warm, when I took my night temp it was way high, and that usually isn't the case. Went to bed hopeful.
14dpo: woke up expecting my temp to have dropped and for period to start - but my temp went up!!! I called to schedule a blood test, they called that afternoon to say it came back POSITIVE - BFP!!!
I'm still 4 weeks now, feeling really warm all the time, some headaches and minor cramping and breast soreness, but nothing major.
I still can't believe my body tricked me! Absolutely nothing was different from other cycles, I'm so glad I was temping bc that was my only clue. This past year has definitely been an emotional struggle and I never knew it would be so hard to get pregnant, and how hard it would be to deal with all my friends getting pregnant. So I feel for anyone that has trouble conceiving!
My advice is to get tested before waiting a full year of trying! I'm glad I did, because you might as well know early if you have low progesterone or some other issue that can be worked with... And take your temperature! :)
I'm so happy we finally got pregnant and i pray for a healthy 9 months!
BFP with unexplained infertility 3rd IUI - 2.5 years trying
This is my first ever bfp after 2.5 years trying and no diagnosis totally normal cycles and ovulation (normal ovulation per both opk and vag ultrasounds)
Background: We tried on our own 1 year, then did 4 months clomid, no luck so I had laproscopy with hsg, everything looked beautiful structurally but couldn't get dye through so my doc sent me to a specialist who did regular hsg and found both tubes open, thus the unexplained infertility ( all DH analysis have been tons of sperm).
Treatments: once we ruled out every diagnosis the RE started me on letrozole (since 4 months of clomid failed in past). First IUI was one egg/foolicle, second was two eggs/follicles, the third and successful was 3 follicles measuring 21, 19.5, 16.5 at CD13. Opk was positive the same evening of the scan so the next day CD14 had IUI. Got faint bfp on FRER 11 dpo and by 12dpo 3 difftype tests including digital were clear bfp!!!
2ww: no symptoms until 9 dpo. Honestly I never once thought I might be pregnant this cycle and was so depressed so the bfp was total shocker....
9dpo: Started getting fullness and discomfort in lower abdomen and bloaty feeling.
10dpo: for some reason felt strong need to eat healthy. I even threw out my junk food and bought tons of produce. I have done this in past though even when not preggo. I also ate olives for the first time and loved them, started craving them for the next few days.
10dpo to now (14 dpo): lots of cramping that feels like period about to start any minute. Comes and goes but can be very uncomfortable at times. Not worrying too much though since just got a great beta yesterday...
Beta hcg drawn morning of 13dpo= 152
BFP After Two Years With PCOS, Low Motility/Morphology, on Clomid (both partners), plus HCG Trigger Shot and IUI
The Doctor just called with amazing news! My HCG level at 14dpo was 95 so I'm pregnant! I go in again on Wednesday to ensure that my numbers have doubled. I took three pregnancy tests from different manufacturers after I got the call though... All Positive! I am SO happy I will finally be able to give my Little Boy a little brother or sister. : )
Timed Intercourse and HCG Trigger Shot on Cycle Day 16
IUI on Cycle Day 18 - Husband's Motility and Morphology were even worse than usual which scared me, but his concentration was finally up from the Clomid. More timed intercourse.
5DPO - Tightness in pelvis before bed. Nipples tingly/sensitive.
6DPO - More pelvic tightness at bedtime.
8DPO - It may have been today that I dreamed about a nurse name Christy calling me and telling me that I was pregnant!
9DPO - It may have been today that I felt a sharp twinge in the front left side of my uterus. Implantation?
11 DPO - Weepy!
12 DPO - I found that I was irritable, weepy, and intensely hungry when I shouldn't have been. This made me start wondering, but at the same time I was wondering whether I was only weepy and irritable because I was so freaked out to hear another no in a couple of days.
14 DPO - The nurse (NOT Christy from my dream) called! My HCG level was 95! PREGNANT! I didn't know what to do with myself so I took three pregnancy tests from different manufacturers. All Positive, including the digital!
This was our third IUI cycle trying to conceive this child and they had already started throwing the work IVF around. I was SURE it was going to be another negative. : )
Online calculators say I will be due July 17th, and this baby will be about 2 years and 9 months younger than my Son. : ) We hadn't used protection since my son was born, and started actively trying a year ago, when he turned one.
Crossing everything I can cross and praying for a safe arrival!
Wishing you all much luck and much love!
Ellie
4 years TTC, 3rd IUI with injectables
Like many of the ladies on this site, getting able to post here seemed like a distant dream. I will try to sum up our story as much as I can, given over the past 4 years we have certainly gone through a lot. We started TTC in November 2010, and after a full year of trying with no success, we decided to seek help from a fertility specialist. My husband was tested and came back with low sperm count, so immediately the fertility doctor said we needed to go straight to IVF. We weren't ready to go down that path yet, so we decided to take a break from the doctor route and continue to try on our own. A year after that, I started seeing a nurse midwife who specialized in pelvic massages and manipulation to help with the uterus. First, my periods were much improved after my sessions. The therapist recommended a fertility doctor who she felt would really listen to our situation and not immediately resort to IVF unless that was our last option. We started seeing him and he wanted to try a few IUI cycles to see how I would respond to it. The first cycle I took Clomid, and my husband's post wash count was 4 mil. No success. The second cycle I went on the Gonal F injectable, and my husband's post wash count was only 1 mil. No success. On our third go around, i went back on the Gonal F, and his post wash count was 2 mil. We also BD'd the day after the IUI in hopes to increase our chances. On CD 23, I started to experience my typical pre-menstrual spotting, so immediately felt I was out. I have been a spotter for the past three years, and no doctor has ever been able to tell me why or has seemed concerned (I have always been concerned about it). Two days later, the spotting was almost gone and I started feeling crampy and really bloated. I tested on CD 27 when the spotting was completely gone, and got my first BFP ever! I have had two blood tests already confirming the pregnancy as well as my HCG rising numbers. I am praying for a healthy pregnancy as it has been such a long journey to get here. I believe in God's plan and prayed every night that He give me the strength to have patience in His plan. Not that it was ever easy, or that I didn't have meltdowns every month Aunt Flo showed up. This site has been my go-to for hope and comfort over the years.
Ok, so my symptoms have been on and off cramping (exactly like menstrual cramps), bloated, dizziness, sore boobs (these started while I was taking the Gonal F and have only subsided a little) and constipated. To be honest, ever since I found out, I have not felt great at all physically but we are over the moon that we are here and are hoping for the best! My prayers and best wishes to everyone out there reading this. It does happen when it's supposed to, as cliche as it sounds.
The wait is over
I have been trying to conceive for 2.5 years. We tried a few rounds of clomid with no success. We then tried a few rounds of femera. I took a break for about 3 months and then restarted femera. I also had some leftover progretrone and started taking it a few days after our first IUI. Today marks the 2 week waiting period and I just got my BFP. I am excited. I got a negative every day since 10dpo. Today I finally saw a BFP. I had some mild cramps on days 4-5 and again days 13-14( today). I have otherwise not had any symptoms. I have se slight breast tenderness for past 2 days.
Secondary infertility BFP after first IUI - 15 months trying
I'll start with a little history. I'm 30 and my husband is 32. We have one son born September 2012. Before I tried to get pregnant with him I was diagnosed with PCOS although I never had issues ovulating. When we did try to start our family it took 8 months to get pregnant. I was on Metformin at the time and my Dr. had just prescribed clomid for my next cycle (which never happend). After having my son none of my original symptoms for PCOS ever came back, so I'm not sure if I can classify as having that anymore. My husband and I started trying for baby number 2 a month before my sons 1st birthday. We tried everything, pre-seed, soft cups, maca root, the list goes on. 12 months later I was back at the Dr. and once again prescribed clomid. I did clomid 50 mg and then 100mg for 4 cycles when I was then refered to a specialist. My RE thinks PCOS has never been the culperit for my infertility and that I fall into the realm of Unexplained Infertility (my husband has been tested twice and each time his numbers are great). Where an average couple has a 25% chance of getting pregnant each month, I only have a 2% chance.
That 2% chance is asleep in his room right now and I feel so blessed to have him.
Doing an IUI raised my chances from 2% to 10%. The Dr. decided to go aggressive and we used injectables (Bravelle). I stared the shots on 11-3 and continued through 11-8. I then did the trigger shot on 11-9 with an IUI on 11-12, I had 4 follies.
1-5 dpo: menstral like cramps which I never get
6 dpo: nothing
7 dpo: tri-phasic shift in bbt - normal for me
8 dpo: large glob of yellow cm (gross), nipples are very slightly sore (unusual, last time anything in the breast region was sore for me was when I was trying to get pregnant the first time). I decided to test my trigger shot (10 days past trigger) so that I could test in a couple days if it was negative, which it was
9 dpo: nothing new, nipples still slightly sore
10 dpo: woke up with a fever of 101.5. Freaked out. I had no other cold or flu symptoms. Lots of gas (burps and farts - so embarrassing). Sort of tired feeling that I couldn't shake. Decided to test - very faint positive - could this be it? Or is it the trigger and the test on 8dpo was faulty?!
11 dpo: tested again, line still there but not darker, really gassy and bloated after any meal. Nipples still slightly sore, still kind of tired all day
12 dpo (today): tested again, line is just a little pinker and darker so def not the trigger. Very gassy, more tired, nothing else really. I'm going to assume I am pregnant :)
I'm supposed to test on Wednesday and call the Dr. Then he'll order a blood test. I just hope and pray for a happy and healthy 9 months.
Lots of love and luck to all of you out there trying. I know it's so hard month after month and it can really consume you some days.
8 Years and 2 IUIs Later!! BFP!!!!
I'm a major stalker of this site, and you've all given me such hope for a BFP. I can't believe I'm posting my very own BFP story! I truly have so much to be thankful for in this Thanksgiving season.
I'm 35 and my husband of eight years is 55. We have age working against us for sure and have been TTC ever since we got married. Over time, we've discovered a myriad of reversible health issues on both our parts. I've lost 150 pounds since fall 2013 and, though I'm still overweight, I'm at a range where pregnancy is not a terribly high risk.
I had my first IUI this past September with only one mature follicle and progesterone at 13 on the day 7 check. It yielded a BFN. I had to skip a month due to my travel schedule, and our next IUI was done on November 11. This cycle, I took 200 mg of Clomid on CDs 3-7 and had a 250 mcg Ovidrel trigger shot the day before the IUI, although I was told I would probably ovulate that same day (November 10). I ended up with 3 big follicles, two on the right and one on the left.
Here are my symptoms (or lack thereof):
IUI/1DPT: Got a massage to relax, since I was so stressed about this process.
1DPIUI/2DPT: No symptoms.
2DPIUI/3DPT: No symptoms.
3DPIUI/4DPT: No symptoms.
4DPIUI/5DPT: Severe cramp in the big toe of my right foot. My toe involuntarily started pulling toward my knee and it HURT. No other strange happenings.
5DPIUI/6DPT: No symptoms. Tested out of Trigger.
6DPIUI/7DPT: No symptoms.
7DPIUI/8DPT: Progesterone tested at 25.1. No symptoms.
8DPIUI/9DPT: No symptoms.
9DPIUI/10DPT: Breasts starting to feel mildly tender, gassy, tired, freezing cold and sneezing like crazy.
10DPIUI/11DPT: Very light line on FRER. Runny nose, shooting pain down there (I told the nurse it felt like electric shocks). Nurse tells me it's probably still the Trigger. Very mild cramping, thumping sensation near uterus, mildly tender breasts, freezing cold and sneezing like crazy.
11DPIUI/12DPT: Line still there on FRER. Mildly tender breasts, shooting pain near right ovary, felt dizzy after running up 11 flights of stairs (abnormal for me).
12DPIUI/13DPT: Based on previous cycles, I should have started spotting by now or at least getting pink tinged CM, but nothing. Twinges and slight cramps, cheap HPT now showing light line, diarrhea, freezing cold and sneezing like crazy.
13DPIUI/14DPT: Lower back discomfort, burping, gassy, mild cramping, very aware of uterus. Lines on HPTs getting darker.
14DPIUI/15DPT: Bloodwork! Beta is 200 and progesterone is 46... good and pregnant! Gassy, jaw pain/tension (and I was surprised to learn that this is an early symptom), mild abdominal cramping, tired, already starting to pee like wild.
AF isn't due for another two days, so I'm very pleased with my blood numbers so far.
A few things I did differently this time were having a massage the day of the IUI, taking Robitussin, and eating lots of pineapple. However, I think this BFP is most attributable to my extra thick uterine lining the month and lots of mature follicles.
Praise the Lord for the first BFP of our marriage!
Against the odds
Ok so I love reading these during my 2ww so I thought I'd return the favor. It is very early, but I am hopeful and got my bfp this morning at 10dpiui. And it was far from faint. I was terrified to see a negative.
Short background. 2 yr old ds, donor sperm iui, 2nd round on gonal f. I have high fsh (12-13) and low amh (.4). 6 failed iui's this past yr. 1 m/c in June between 7-11 weeks. Md said likely bad quality egg/chromosomal, no testing done. Advised IVF, I did one more iui with gonal f and the last remaining donor sample, as he retired. Rolled the dice even though md said less than 15% chance. So here the cycle:
Trigger cd 10 w/17, 19 and 2 14mm follies. Lining 8.5
Iui cd 12....worst post wash sample yet! So sad. He's always a good performer. 4mil total. Discouraged, but tried to be positive.
1-5dpiui normal after iui stuff. Pain in my ovary for 1-2 days.
6dpiui cramps all day into evening. Some moments of "was that implantation?"
7dpiui nothing until woke up out of sleep with sharp pain in my stomach...not sure it was low enough to be related.
8-9dpiui boobs on fire. Sore like pre-period, but I haven't had sore boobs before a period since before my son was born. OH and I'm on progesterone, so I kept telling myself it was that. The thing that had been different each time I was pregnant was sharp/electric pain through my nipples. Only a few seconds at a time. That was kind of a give away. But I didn't want to get my hopes up.
Also a very distinctive loss of appetite at lunch, I ate anyway but it was not at all appealing. (I was familiar with the feeling so it also made my go hmmmm)
10piui AM BFP
Blood work Monday. Fingers crossed it sticks! :)
Best of luck all!
Many years in the making- A PCOS success story
Ok, this is long- I read this board day in and day out for years while trying to conceive. I would cry thinking that I would never be able to have a baby but found solace in the fact that so many other women could. I had severe PCOS, never had a period, my husband also had a super low sperm count due to meds he took for gout. The odds were stacked against us.
After a year of trying, we saw a fertility specialist. We went through 6 months of clomid treatments and nothing. Each month with a BFN was like a death. Everything set me off. I kept it bottled up and became depressed. Finally, the fertility specialist let me try femara. I took the highest dose possible off the bat. And it worked! I got a super super faint line on a FRER. So faint, only I could see it. I went straight to the doctor and confirmed that by blood levels were 15, which is barely pregnant, but I was pregnant! The very next day, I started bleeding. I kept registering positives but I knew that it just didn't stick. I was so disappointed. I remember that night, I drank an entire bottle of wine and drowned myself in my misery. I knew I would never be a mother.
I made an appointment with the fertility specialist again. I was ticked. I was angry, I cried, I blamed him for not getting pregnant. I basically had a meltdown. He suggested that we move on to an IUI. I agreed. We timed ovulation just right and had the procedure done. A few days afterward, I was exhausted. Like going to bed at 7 pm exhausted. I knew then. On 10 dpo, I registered positive on a FRER! It stuck! And she did stick. My wonderful daughter was born on June 25th, 2014. That is her picture. I can't express the love I have for her. She has changed me.
Right after her birth, my doctor started to discuss birth control options. I knew we wanted another baby and figured that it would take another 2 years so we passed on the birth control. Lo and behold, I'm now 12 weeks pregnant with #2! No fertility treatments, no IUI. My next one is due two weeks before my little girl's birthday! I went from the woman who everyone thought would never have kids to having two babies under the age of 1!
There is hope..... never never never give up. Push your doctor and believe in yourself. It will happen.
Let's hope the second time's the charm.
I had another BFP back in January, but unfortunately it ended in a chem a week later. Today, after my first cycle with injectible meds, I got my second BFP.
Okay, so: I took injectibles of Gonal-F on CD 3-10. On CD10, I went to my doctor's office for another ultrasound. It was not my usual doctor, but he was the guy on duty, so I went. Turned out he couldn't even find my follicles (this is not the first time this has happened with this guy), so he told me to make an appointment for the following day at the main office where there's a better ultrasound machine. I was annoyed. Later that afternoon, my nurse called me and told me that I should bring my partner with me to the ultrasound appointment. I was confused. Why would he need to come? But I brought him anyway, and my regular doc informed me that my bloodwork from the day before had told her that both of my follicles were due to ovulate literally any minute; we needed to do my IUI right then!!
Okay, we got my partner's sample prepped and washed and did the IUI. Awesome. Pretty sure I oved in the time we were waiting for his sample to be done, 'cause I couldn't feel the follicle any more after that. Okay, then:
1-3 DPO-nothing, really. Relaxed and took things easy.
4 DPO Headache! The kind that feels like it's connected to the flu. Like someone hit me in the head with a 2x4.
5-6DPO nothing
7DPO-felt really sick and had constant pinching and twitching cramps. Headache is back in a big way. Felt nauseated and grouchy too, but it was better when I got out with my dogs and walked on the beach for a couple hours.
8DPO- Pinching and pulling cramps all day. Still feeling sick.
9-10DPO-AF-like cramps. Grouchy.
11DPO-Nauseated. Had this idea that my uterus felt "slippery" or "precarious" and if I moved too quickly it would slide around. Weird, yes. Later on in the day, it started to hurt to lean against the table.
12DPO TONS of creamy CM
13DPO could feel two weird "spots" in my uterus, one on either side.
14DPO BFP! Very faint. Betas tomorrow.
BFP after 16 months, 1st IUI
We tried naturally for 15 months with not a single BFP or late AF. We found at the beginning of the 12th cycle that DH had low count, low motility, and low morphology. I later got tested as well, I have normal, pretty predictable cycles, clear tubes, and normal hormone levels. DH began taking a few other vitamins along with his multivitamin, stopped taking baths, and for all of the 15th cycle started taking Naturally Smart vitamins recommended by our RE.
The 1st week of our 16th cycle of trying, DH got retested, his count improved to 4 times what it was, morphology went up 2% into the normal range, but his motility decreased by 6%. The improvements meant that we qualified for IUI that cycle! I took Clomid 100mg CD3-7 to produce more follicles for better chances at conception, then the morning of CD 13 was given a Pregnyl trigger shot to induce ovulation. I had two good follicles, 21mm & 26mm, ready to go! We had back to back IUIs, on the mornings of CD 14 & 15 (November 18 & 19). They were fairly easy, with only a little minor cramping after.
I was supposed to wait until December 3rd to test, but DH convinced me to test early at 11pm on November 30 (which was 11 & 12 DPIUIs). To my shock, there was a second line on the FRER. Right away I was so happy but fearful that it was still the trigger shot. Over the next few days, I continued to test and see a somewhat faint second line on 3 brands. The lines were not getting much darker, so of course we were paranoid it would be a chemical pregnancy!
Come "test day" December 3, I took a Dollar Tree cheapie, saw a faint line, and a FRER digital and got a "No-" I thought our fears were confirmed! I called the RE office, told them the situation, and scheduled my first beta for the next morning. The morning of the blood draw, I tested on a cheapie again and the line was darker! After the blood draw, I anxiously anticipated the phone call while at work, I even got butterflies on and off! Finally at 3:25pm I got the call! Beta was 134!! I am pregnant! It feels so surreal after trying for so long. We cannot help but be afraid of losing our little nugget, but are remaining hopeful and positive. I have the second beta test tomorrow along with a progesterone test, I hope see great numbers!
My symptoms: Before testing the first time (which was 11 & 12 DPIUIs), I had nothing to even hint at pregnancy. Because the Clomid had changed my normal mucus and other ovulation signs, I decided not to chart this cycle, and stopped temping after the IUIs. After seeing a positive test Sunday, Nov 30, the next night I did notice pretty sore nipples. That only happens at/after O for me, so I was hopeful it was the pregnancy progesterone. Then, starting Wednesday (14 & 15 DPIUIs), I got really gassy and bloated for 3 days, I even woke up that way, so I knew it had to be a sign (my bloat and gas usually go away over night). I also had some lower abdominal tenderness (not sure if it's my growing uterus or bloated intestines). Now, 18 & 19 DPIUIs, I am barely bloated, but my breasts are starting to get tender, and I occasionally have some aches in my uterus area.
Good luck to all of you trying! I know how hard this whole process can be!
First IUI-BFP
I am soo excited. God answered my prayer.
I'm 25 years old, have severe PCOS, I had regular menstrual cycle only for a year when I was 12 and it has stopped. I used to have my period like the most twice a year and then once a year (which means I don't ovulate at all) then Dr put me on birth control when i was 13 or 14. So I was on birth control up until I was 22,23ish so I was on birth control for 8 years even though I really didn't need it. anyways, Im writing all these because maybe there's someone out there who might be taking bunch of birth control (like I did) that they don't really need that actually can hurt you. My Fertility doc said because I was on birth control for soo long my body stopped even trying to produce some hormones. Anyways so that's my issue.
Me and my husband ttc for 2 years,
1 year with just bunch of herbs and vitamins and whatnot. (had a surgery, Dr removed a polyp from my uterus, all the years I wasn't ovulating and not having menstrual cycle caused this)
Then about a year ago doctor put me on Metformin 1500mg and tried for 3-4 months, no success.
Then we added clomid 25mg for 5 days, biggest follicle was around 8mm, cycle cancelled.
Then clomid 50mg for 5 days, biggest follicle was 11mm, cycle cancelled
Then clomid 150mg for 5 days, biggest follicle was 17mm, had timed intercourse BFN
Then clomid 200mg for 5 days, biggest follicle was 8mm, cycle cancelled
so doc decided to switch to Letrozole (femera) lowest dosage and bravelle for 9 nights, biggest follicle 19, trigger shot that night and 36 hours later my very very first IUI. Husband's sperm count after wash was 79mil and 85%motility.
I did my research and it said I should lay down at least 15 mins, but the nurse said just lay down for 5 mins and you're ok to go, but of course I laid down there for 30 mins ^,^
and started progesterone vaginally the day after the IUI
2 weeks wait... OMG so anxious.

BFP at 12dpiui with femara and ovidrel!
My turn! Got an unexpected BFP on my first medicated IUI with donor sperm, two years after giving birth to my daughter, also conceived via medicated IUI with donor sperm. With her, it took two attempts with clomid and ovidrel, this time around we used femara and ovidrel and BOOM! I'm 12dpiui as of this morning and so excited! This two week wait was quite different from my first pregnancy, so just because you have different or missing symptoms doesn't mean you can't be pregnant!
1-6dpiui: nothing noteworthy
6dpiui: acupuncture
7-8dpiui: mild cramping, heavy feeling in my uterus, similar to last trimester
9-11dpiui: no more cramping; bad headaches; felt nauseous from smelling raw garlic; one major bout of nausea; chin acne (throughout the whole tww)
12dpiui: major temp spike in the morning! Decided to test using wondfro dip stick and got a faint BFP! Another BFB with clearblue digital!
I went in for my blood test and got a good number for this early, first ultrasound scheduled for the first week in January. I feel so blessed, it's a Christmas miracle!!
With my first pregnancy, I knew because my breast got big and veiny and sore before I tested. This time? Absolutely no breast changes at all! So again, different or missing symptoms doesn't mean you are out! Baby dust to you all!
Best Gift Ever!
Today I am officially pregnant with Baby #2! Both my babies will be IUI babies now. Thank you science! It took 3 IUI's this time since we just kept trying what worked the first time around. Took much longer back then - 3IUI's, failed IVF, and 3 more IUI's to get baby #1.
Here is the breakdown from this time around: [Non medicated cycle, except for neupogen for my lining issues)
Day 14 - Ultrasound (5mm lining) & Neupogen (this drug has helped thicken my lining, which stops around 5mm without it.)
Day 17 - Morning - Ultrasound (6mm lining) & Neupogen - 1 Follicle around 22MM, HCG Trigger shot given that morning.
Day 18 - Morning IUI#1 - DH count - 6.46M 85% Mot (1/2 fresh/ 1/2 frozen)
Day 19 - Morning IUI#2 - DH count - 4.5M 85% Mot (1/2 fresh/ 1/2 frozen)
1DPIUI - 6DPIUI - No Symptoms
7DPIUI - Vivid Dreams, Emotional, & Twinges.
12DPIUI - OPT = YES!!!!
We were so happy to finally have our first baby after 3 years of trying, but after finding the right doctor (Thanks Dr. El-Roiy!) and trying different things we feel so incredibly lucky. I know how hard and heartbreaking it can be especially dealing with a low count or lining issues. My husband had to freeze 4 samples in order to reach those small numbers above, but it just proves that you should not give up hope and that a small count can work eventually! Wish everyone luck and happiness in the new year.
BFP on second IUI!!!!
I can barely believe it's true! I am 38 years old and we have been TTC for about two years. I had my 2nd IUI on Dec 20th and wasn't at all optimistic about it working. When we first started working with an RE, we were told to go straight to IVF based off of my age and my husband’s sperm quality. We thought we'd get a second opinion and I am so glad we did. Our new amazing RE agreed to let my husband go on clomid to improve his sperm. It appeared that the clomid worked because his sperm improved significantly and they approved us for IUI. He was also taking Fertil-Aid but I'm giving most of the credit to clomid. He is at a healthy weight but he also tried to exercise more as well. My tests came out fine (sono and the HSG as well as my FSH and AMH levels) but I also implemented several healthy lifestyle changes. I continued to exercise moderately, mostly boxing classes, jogging and weights. I also started acupuncture and eating full fat dairy. The only other thing I did differently this cycle was get a massage the day before the IUI, but I don't think that had any real effect over my success, it was just a nice thing to splurge on.
I didn't have any symptoms prior to getting my BFP except for a bit of nausea. I was taking progesterone supplements which can mimic signs of pregnancy so I didn't really stress out too much about it. I was supposed to wait and take a pregnancy test 15DPIUI, but does anyone really wait that long? Not me! I tested on NYE, thinking I might have a couple of drinks if it was completely stark white but lo and behold, I saw a faint positive! I was dubious because it could still have been my HCG trigger shot (I did injectables for both my IUI's). But every day, those lines got darker and darker! My first beta was 880! Two days later it jumped up to 2240! I am now five weeks pregnant and waiting for my week seven and my first ultrasound!
I feel like this is a miracle!
3rd times a charm with iui!
After almost exactly 2years of ttc.....finally got our bfp! After countless at home remidies to try to increase ferility such as preseed, fertiliaid, multiple vitamins, pineapple, and to name a few, then 6 months of clomid and 3 iui's....we thought we were going to have to move on to ivf if this 3rd iui failed and now finally able to say we are pregnant! And after many months of symptom spotting....i really didnt have any! My bb's became sore/tender about the time they usually do before AF comes but have still remained sore! No nausea, nipple changes, food intolerances or noticeable tiredness. Usually about 3 days before AF comes my cm turns brown/bloody tinged...this time I kept checking for it but when I got to my expected AF date withno mucus change I tested. At 14 and 15 dpo/iui i had to squint to see a second line so was not convinced. I went out and bought a digital test pack and frer pack and took both 16 dpo/iui...digital came back 'pregnant' and frer with a clear, no second guessing second line! So...no real symptoms, actual lack of my colored cm 3 days before expected af was my biggest hint! Going to get my blood work drawn tomorrow so hoping all is well! Anyone going through iui treatments dont give up! We had no reason for the iui not to work so by the time the first 2 failed I was basically already convinced #3 wouldn't work and we would be moving on to ivf! Now praying for a health pregnancy!
Almost too good to be true
Same as everyone else I stalked here and read almost every page looking for hope and over analyzing everything. I owe it to the women in my same shoes to add my story. First thing I have to say is that I had so many more symptoms during my BFN cycles than I had with the BFP: sore boobs, swollen gums, early AF cramping, heartburn, you name it. This time around I wouldn't have caught anything if I wasn't looking for it.
This was my first IUI cycle after 14 months of TTC on our own. Numbers were:
Clomid days 5-9
Scan on CD 11 - 2 follies at 19 and 20mm.
Ovidrel trigger on CD 12
IUI on CD 14
1 DPO: ovulation cramps
2 DPO: still some ovulation pain
3 DPO: nothing
4 DPO: nothing
5 DPO: could it be maybe some nipple soreness? I never get sore nipples, only sore boobs right after O
6 DPO: definitely some soreness, left nipple only
7 DPO: still kind of sore, pretty strange for me
8 DPO: still a little sore. Since I know it's too early for BFP, let me see if I still have the trigger in my body - Very very faint line
9 DPO: is the line darker? It's still so faint I can't even tell. Still think it's the trigger
10 DPO: don't even have to squint - BFP! BFP! Confirmed later on at my doctors office with a beta of 42.
Ladies this journey is cruel and heartbreaking, I know, but worth it!
